Those who are big Jimmy Buffett fans, or simply enjoy the occasional Margarita, will be thrilled to know that a chain of Margaritaville-inspired senior communities is in the works.

Latitude Margaritaville has three locations currently— Daytona Beach, FL; Watersound, FL; and Hilton Head, SC. The resort will feature fitness facilities like tennis courts or bean bag tossing, lap pools, spas, beachfront access, incredible dining and entertaining, and of course, plenty of booze.

The lifestyle brand of Jimmy Buffet is quite popular and includes 23 Margaritaville-themed attractions, including restaurants, retail outlets, hotels and casinos. The franchise began in 1985 with the first Margaritaville store opening up in Key West, FL, then quickly began to expand to other ventures.

The community plans to have its first residents at the end of summer 2018 and is targeting those 55 and older; a much younger demographic than stereotypical senior communities. Because of this younger population, the communities will also include business centers to allow residents to continue with their business opportunities that they already have.

Home prices planned to be in the low $200,000s to about $350,000 in order to appeal to a wider variety of socio-economic statuses. However, some have demonstrated that they would be willing to buy up to a $700,000 home in the renowned community.

Model homes were created in 2018 and visitors are able to come see the paradise for themselves. Be warned: almost 100,000 people have signed up for information on the website, so you may have to fight your way into a tour.

Whatever your needs, we hope that everyone gets a chance to end up wastin’ away in Margaritaville, searching for that last shaker of salt!
